Mumbai [India], October 3: Ajay Devgn’s much-awaited Drishyam 3: The Conclusion has made a strong opening at the Indian box office. The third and final chapter of the Hindi crime-thriller franchise arrived in cinemas on October 2 and recorded an estimated ₹66.75 crore net collection in India on its opening day, according to trade-tracking figures reported on October 3.
The film recorded an India gross of around ₹80.10 crore on Day 1, while its overseas gross was estimated at approximately ₹15 crore. This placed its worldwide gross at around ₹95.10 crore after the first day, putting the film close to the ₹100-crore worldwide mark at the beginning of its theatrical run.
Directed by Abhishek Pathak, Drishyam: The Conclusion brings back Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar, along with Tabu, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta and other returning cast members. Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj are also part of the latest instalment. The film continues the story of Vijay and his family as the consequences of the events from the previous films return to the centre of the narrative.
The opening-day numbers also show a significant increase over the previous Hindi films in the franchise. Drishyam 2 opened with around ₹15.38 crore net in India, while the 2015 film Drishyam began its theatrical run with approximately ₹5.85 crore net. The latest instalment has therefore started at a considerably higher level than its predecessors.
According to the reported trade figures, Drishyam 3 recorded an overall occupancy of around 67.08% for its Hindi 2D shows on Friday. The film saw stronger footfall as the day progressed, with evening and night shows recording higher occupancy than the morning shows.
The film’s first weekend will be important for its box-office trajectory. Since Drishyam 3 released on October 2, the opening weekend includes Saturday and Sunday, giving the thriller an opportunity to build on its opening-day numbers. At present, reliable final Day 2 figures are still developing, so the confirmed total should be assessed once the day’s collections are fully reported.
With its first-day India net collection standing at ₹66.75 crore and worldwide gross estimated at ₹95.10 crore, Drishyam 3: The Conclusion has made a substantial start at the box office. The next few days will provide a clearer picture of how the film performs through its opening weekend.
